I have never been more sure in my entire life that God is in control and has amazing plans set out for each and every one of us. Two and a half weeks ago I had a full time job at a school I had worked at as a teacher for two years and was preparing to return for a third year. For several unmentioned reasons, I had a tugging at my heart that it was soon time to leave this school and move on, but financial security and familiarity led me to keep a job at this school.
Well, God had different plans in mind. The Tuesday before school started I applied for a job and got an interview in another school in a district I was interested in getting in. I figured God and I were on the same page and that I was going to have an exciting year in a new school. Through this process, I was required to quit the full time position I had at my previous school so they could find a new teacher to hire in case I got the job. Talk about a leap of faith, but quit I did.
Well, God had different plans in mind. I didn't get the new job. The interview went quite well, and reference calls were even made, but they went with someone a little more experienced. So the Thursday before school started I was unemployed with not a clue of what to do with my life.
Well, God had different plans in mind. I realized during the next day that I had always wanted to travel and teach overseas or do missionary work overseas for several months, but school had always been an excuse not to go. But now the opportunities were endless. New Zealand? Thailand? England? Teach? Missionary work? Travel? No.....wait....how about Finland, or Iceland? ..... or even Greece! The excitement was paramount, but I did begin to be concerned on how I was going to fund this expedition. But I figured God had a plan.
Well, God had different plans in mind. The Saturday before school started (on Monday) I planted myself in front of my computer to continue research on where to go in the world and what to do. Around 9:30 am I received a phone call; from an assistant principal in yet a different school district; from a brand new K-9 school in Edmonton; just down the street from where I live. He offered me a job....in my Major. No interview (I had interviewed with this school district two and a half years ago!). So I took the job. I started Monday. (For those of you who don't know the education system well, this DOESN'T happen!)
God definitely had different plans in mind than I did, and they were way better than I ever could have fathomed! My new job is absolutely amazing. I love the school, I love the staff, I love the students, I love the work. I KNOW I am exactly where God wants me to be, so it is so exciting going to work every morning!
There are several areas in my life that are still uncertain and not so obvious. But I am now absolutely convinced that God has a plan for my life.
And it's going to be epic.
